Salah Habit is made by Venturity Ltd, registered in the United Kingdom. It's available for iPhone and for Android phones, and this policy covers both apps; where the Android app works differently, we say so. Your worship is private: your prayer records and reflections are never sent to us. Some things do reach our servers so that features like subscriptions, mosque timetables and the Ummah Feed can work, and this page says exactly what they are.

What stays on your device

Your prayer records, reflections, streaks, achievements, tool data and app settings are stored on your device. We do not upload your prayer history or your reflections. Deleting the app removes this local data.

Your phone's own backup can include this data: iCloud Backup on iPhone, and your Google Account backup on Android. These backups belong to your Apple or Google account, and we can't read them. On Android 9 and later, with a screen lock set, the Google backup is end-to-end encrypted, and it leaves out device-specific details such as notification tokens, scheduled alarms and app-blocking state.

What we store on our servers

The app uses a randomly generated account identifier, so there's no sign-up and no password. We store your app version, platform, language, approximate country, app visits, feature usage, subscription status, mosque subscriptions and onboarding answers against that identifier. This includes your name if you choose to provide it during setup or when contacting us. We also store a usage total to manage the free prayer-recording allowance, without the prayer details. If you contact support, report a bug or post an idea, we store what you wrote and any files you attach.

We also store a notification token for your device, so we can deliver support replies and announcements; your purchases and tips (product, amount, currency and date); mosque timetables, photos and details you submit; and, if you claim a mosque, your name, role, email address, phone number and the evidence you upload. We record which announcements and promotions you have seen, opened or tapped, and your answers to announcement polls. Your phone uses your approximate country, your gender answer (if you gave one) and your subscription status to choose which ones to show you.

Ideas you post on the Ideas board are shown without your name. We keep a private record of who posted, voted on or reported each idea, which only you and our administrators can see.

Some of this, such as the mosques you follow, your Feed posts or a mosque claim, can reveal your religious beliefs. Sharing it is optional, and we use it only to provide those features.

Subscriptions and purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store on iPhone and through Google Play on Android, and Apple or Google processes the payment. Our subscription service provider receives a record of your purchases linked to your account identifier, so your Pro access works wherever you use the same account. We never receive your card or bank details. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple account's subscription settings on iPhone, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions on Android. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.

Ummah Feed

The Ummah Feed is optional and needs a Feed profile that you create yourself. Your display name, username, photo and biography are public to everyone who can open the feed, as are your posts, replies, reposts, images, polls and follows. Your likes, bookmarks, poll choices, blocks and mutes stay private. Your onboarding answers, age, gender, country and member number are never shown on your profile. You must be 16 or older to create a Feed profile; anyone can browse and report without one.

Moderation of what you post

Posts and images submitted to the Ummah Feed are checked using automated moderation services, and some are also reviewed by a person. We share the submitted text and images with a third-party moderation provider to help keep the community safe. Reports and moderation decisions are kept so we can act on repeat problems.

Location

Location is used to calculate prayer times, find nearby mosques, show the weather on the Home screen and set the Qibla direction. We store your approximate country, not your coordinates. To provide these features, your coordinates are sent to a third-party prayer-time service, to map and place-search services (Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android) and to Apple's weather service. Location is never attached to anything you post.

On Android, you can allow precise or approximate location. The weather request goes through our server, which rounds your position to about 1 km before asking the weather service, and mosque search sends the map area you are viewing through our server to Google's place search. If location is off, the app estimates your country from your SIM card, mobile network or phone language.

Maps and the camera

On Android, the mosque map is provided by Google Maps. When you use the map, Google collects technical information such as your device model, crash reports from the map component and a map-specific identifier, under Google's privacy policy. City names come from Android's built-in geocoder, which sends your coordinates, or the city you type, to Google. When you photograph a timetable, the document scanner is provided by Google Play services, which sends Google anonymous usage and performance statistics. On both phones, the QR code and prayer-mat scanners work entirely on your phone: camera frames are analysed in memory and never saved or uploaded.

Mosque timetables and AI

If you add a mosque timetable from a photo or a website, the photo or the page's text is sent to an AI service, which reads the prayer times for you to check before you share them. On Android this goes through our server, which also logs each read to control cost. Photos you submit are stored with your submission so the community and the mosque can check the times.

Notifications and app blocking

Prayer reminders and the adhān are scheduled on your device. Support replies and announcements are delivered through Apple's and Google's notification services, so we store your device's notification token with your account. You can turn off announcement notifications in the app's notification settings.

On iPhone, app blocking uses Apple's Screen Time controls; the apps you select are handled on your device and are not visible to us. On Android, app blocking uses Android's Accessibility service or, if you prefer, usage access together with permission to display over other apps. Either way, the app learns only which app is in front, so it can cover an app you chose as soon as one of your prayer windows starts, and it acts only during those windows. It doesn't read or collect what's on your screen, and when app blocking is off, the app switches these Accessibility events off. To let you pick apps, it reads the list of apps on your phone. The apps you choose, the list of apps on your phone and the apps you open stay on your phone; we store only whether app blocking is on and which unlock method you chose. You can turn app blocking off at any time in Settings → App Blocking or in your phone's Accessibility settings.

Your account on a new phone

On iPhone, your anonymous account is kept in the iPhone Keychain, so it survives reinstalling the app. On Android, the app does the same by saving a random restore key in Google Play services' Block Store on your phone. Where your phone supports end-to-end encrypted backups, Block Store also keeps the key in your Google backup, encrypted so that neither Google nor we can read it. Our server keeps only a one-way fingerprint of the key. When you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, the app uses the key to sign you back in to the same account. Delete Account removes the key.

If you accept the 3-day Pro gift, the app records the gift dates on your phone and with your account, so the gift is offered once per phone and once per account. The phone's copy is kept in the Keychain on iPhone and in Block Store on Android. A small marker that this phone has received the gift, including the account identifier it was given to and the gift dates, stays even after you delete your account or reinstall the app, so the offer isn't repeated.

Seerah lessons

Seerah lessons play from where they're published: video from YouTube and audio from the podcast's host. When you play a lesson, those services receive your device's internet address and technical information under their own privacy policies, which are linked in the Seerah tool. Your progress and notes stay on your device.

Referral links

On Android, if you install Salah Habit from a friend's Google Play link, the app reads the referral code from Google Play's install information to fill it in for you. Nothing is applied until you confirm it.

Analytics

We collect limited usage analytics, such as app visits and feature interactions, to understand how Salah Habit is used and improve the platform. Analytics events use your randomly generated account identifier and do not include your name, prayer records, reflection titles or content, post text, username or biography. Information you choose to provide during setup, in a Feed profile or when contacting us may be associated with the same account.

Ratings, biometrics and advertising

When the app asks for a rating, Apple or Google shows its own review window; we don't see whether you rated or what you wrote. If you lock the Qada tool, your phone's Face ID, fingerprint or screen lock checks it's you, and the app learns only whether the check succeeded. Salah Habit doesn't use your phone's advertising ID, and we don't sell your data. Promotions inside the app are chosen on your phone from our own list.

Service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate Salah Habit: Google Cloud and Firebase (account access, database, storage, server functions and notifications), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Apple and Google (app stores, maps, place search, weather and notifications), an AI service (reading timetables), a content-moderation service (the Ummah Feed), an email service (mosque claim verification) and a prayer-time service. These providers process the information needed to deliver the relevant features.

How we protect your data

The apps send data only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our main database and server functions run in Google Cloud data centres in Europe, protected by access rules so that each account can read and change only its own private records. Some service providers process data in other countries, such as the United States. The Android app contains no secret keys: features that need them run on our server.

How long we keep things

Account data is kept while your account exists. Feed notifications are deleted after 90 days, resolved reports after 180 days, and moderation records after 12 months. Support tickets and bug reports are kept until they're no longer needed or you delete your account. Records of your purchases are also held by Apple or Google and by our subscription provider.

Deleting your data

Settings offers two options. Delete Feed profile removes your profile, posts, replies, likes, follows, bookmarks and uploaded images, and frees your username. Delete Account erases everything above plus your account record, sign-in and the rest of your server data, and resets the app on your phone. Deletion is permanent, and it doesn't cancel a subscription. Our data deletion page lists exactly what is erased and what is kept.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how we use it, by emailing support@salahhabit.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children's Privacy

Salah Habit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Creating a Feed profile requires you to confirm you are 16 or older.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
